HIGHWAYS PROJECTS

The road stretching about 20 km to the non-ferrous metals field in Kyrgyzstan, in a difficult mountain conditions at an altitude of 3000 m above sea level has been built. Complex relief and geological conditions made it necessary to build a large number of engineering structures, retaining walls, stone traps, streamers, viaducts, etc.

The Institute took considerable part in Turkmenistan roads design – highways Kyzyl-Arvat -Kyzyl Atrek, stretching over 200 km; Kyzyl-Atrek -Bugdayly, stretching 101 km; motorway Mary – Ashgabat section from the Khauz-Khana to Tedzhen, stretching 78 km; Chagall- Kabaily stage of the Chardzhou-Urgench road , etc. were built on our projects.

In 1991-1993, the road to the polymetallic deposit was built on the Kazpromtransproekt project in a very difficult mountain conditions at an altitude of 2,000 m above sea level in East Kazakhstan. Length of the road is 33 km.

In 1991-1994, a project of highway linking the Vorkuta city (Russia) with constructing coal mine in conditions of tundra was developed. The design complexity of this road, stretching 30 km, caused by the presence of permafrost grounds across the road, as well as a large number of streams, rivers, snowdrifts for 9 months of a year.

In 1996-1997, the Institute carried out a detailed rehabilitation project of two third category road sections Almaty-Karaganda – Akmola (596 – 637 and 688 – 763 km). The total length of sections is 116 km.

This road has been in an unsatisfactory condition for a long time and over a large area, which led to a significant reduction in traffic speeds, deterioration transport vehicles and worsening conditions of road safety.

The essence of rehabilitation was a replacing of the existing transitional type road pavement with black gravel coating by the capital type of road pavement with two-layer asphalt coating on the gravel bottom.

The maximum use of the existing pavement as a structural layer of the new coating has been provided in order to reduce the estimated cost of rehabilitation work.

The project has also provided works of repair or replacement of the culverts which were in poor condition, as well as the subgrade broadening and flattening of its grades.

Nowadays the Institute is finalizing working documentation development for the construction of the road Kyzylasker-Kirovskiy in Southern Kazakhstan, stretching 37 km.

It will ensure the reliable connection between Maktaaral area and other regions of the Republic and eliminate the necessity of customs checkpoints on Uzbekistan border passage.

The project involves the reconstruction of existing highway, stretching 10.2 km, and building of new road, stretching 26.8 km with its passage of over 18 km on the land, occasionally flooded by Chardarinskoe water storage basin. Building of a bridge at the intersection with the Syrdarya river, length of 440 m under the scheme 10×42 m, is also planned.
